Education, Membership, and Exhibitions
From an early age, Betsy was drawing and painting. This interest in visual expression, no doubt, contributed to her skills as a choreographer. She took classes in art history and studio art at Agnes Scott College as an undergraduate and, later as a graduate student, took studio art classes in drawing and watercolor painting at the University of Arizona in Tucson. While earning a degree in Product Design at the NCSU College of Design, her mentors were NC abstract painter (color/light teacher) Joe Cox and product design teacher Vince Foote.
Betsy Blair is a member of the Durham Art Guild and regularly exhibits and sells her paintings in DAG membership and juried art shows. She participates in the Watts Hospital-Hillandale Neighborhood Art Walk. Over the years, other exhibitions of her work have been in special venues such as Craven Allen Gallery in Durham, UNC Women's Hospital in Chapel Hill, the Durham Mayor's Office, Integrative Physicians of Durham, Tia B's Restaurant in Chimney Rock, NC, and others.
