Past Workshops
yB Creativity Workshops for Children 5-11 years old, Summer 2008
Carolina Friends School, Summer Programs
In each of these workshops, Betsy Blair (yB) guides the children through a full day (9a.m.-3 p.m.)involving creative movement, painting and drawing, music and stories/poetry. She alternates the use of vigorous physical activities in a group with quieter times for individual creative expression. Students also have time to play on the shaded playground in the morning as well as a period of "free choice time" in an air conditioned space during the hot afternoons for quieter activities. Each day begins and ends with age-appropriate centering activities. Extended day program until 5 p.m. is available for campers.

Movement session with participants, presentation of ideas from yB Seminar on Creativity, the teaching of dance within the classroom , Age emphasis 4-8 year olds, two dance poems in Tanner and Laban traditions, "Body Parts Dance", and "Gift to Be Simple" choreography leading into improvisation, discussion on practicalities.
